Fellow toastmasters and most welcome guests,

We had a wonderful meeting on January 25th, 2007! Thirty four or five people came including eight new guests Zenash, Catherine, Chet, Vitaly, Nicole, Vanessa, Joseph, and Alex (sorry, if I spell your name worng). Welcome and thank you all for coming!

[Note: Since our club is getting bigger, we strongly recommend that everyone come to the meeting on time. If you are late, please wait outside for the next applause before you come into the room so that the meeting, especially when a speaker is delivering a well prepared speech, will not be interrupted. Thank you all for your cooperation!]

The meeting was started on time by the president of our club Al with a brief opening remark. He then gave the lectern to Merlyne who, for her first time, led the whole meeting through as the Toastmaster. Michael Lee then took the lectern as the toastmaster of the table topic session. The theme of the table topics was “something in the middle” in which Michael gave volunteers a sentence or a phase and asked him or her to use it only in the middle of 1 to 2 min speech. It was a great impromptus speech session, well done, guys, and thanks to the nine participants for their wonderful speeches

Three wonderful speakers delivered their speeches in the prepared speech session. In her #2 project “where did I park the car”, Carol told us her five ways to solve the problem everyone in their audience might have. Juliana then talked about “ask this question”, also as her #2 project, to practice her skills on the organization of a speech. Since John has finished his 10 project manual in his former club, he made his SO #2 speech “a toast to Martin Luther King Jr.”. It was a great speech and the language was just beautiful. Everyone enjoyed it. It was a wonderful well-prepared speech session. Good job, guys!

In the evaluation session, Sterling, Hans and Al gave their wonderful evaluations to Carol’s, Juliana’s and John’s speeches, respectively. The ah-counter was Michael Jackson (yeah, we have Michael Jackson in our club!) and the timer of this meeting was Jon Faulkner. They all did excellent jobs (see below)! The meeting was finished at about 7:40 pm right on time thanks for Merlyne’s good control of time as the toastmaster. Overall, it was a wonderful meeting! Thanks everyone and see you all next Friday in the same room on Feb 1st, 2008!
